I'm Benjamin, a mechanical engineer who now builds software full time, and this is a build log about training for Ironman Lake Placid on 18 July 2027. I've spent my career designing things, testing them, and finding out how wrong I was. The goal is to observe what happens when I point all of that at my own training instead.
The goal isn't performance optimization, it's doing the things I enjoy, learning something along the way, and getting to that finish line. I can't wait to see what I learn and what preconceived notions are challenged as I dive into this.

Buoyant? Negative
Two lengths to 285m in three weeks, and a shared lane that turned into a question about what a camera can see.

Am I just hardware?
Both a training plan and a deploy are instructions written now to be executed later — an analogy that holds up further than it should, then breaks in the one place that decides whether any of it happens.
